In fact, this person does not even live in the MDUSD area, and so does not have a student in the district, and is not a special education teacher in the district, or anywhere.
So, what is her interest in all of this?
Well, as it turns out she sells Individualized Special Education Programs on Amazon! So, what you were really seeing was a salesperson trying to call attention to herself to drum up some business.
For some reason, not easily discernible to a rational person, she thought it would be a great marketing idea to take two sentences from my website about the importance of discipline and turn it into an impassioned character assassination/self-serving sales pitch.
Ah, but little did she realize that I secretly enjoy having a total stranger tell thousands of people that I’m a scary evil racist who hates children. So, she slipped up a little in that.
In retrospect, it’s amusing to hear that there are such tidbits on her websites as “Don’t Be a Bully” and “Be Kind and Compassionate.”
I don’t know about you, but her video does not exactly strike me as “kind and compassionate.” Rather than “kind and compassionate,” it seems more like an even blend of Arrogance, Malevolence, and Pure Ignorance…a golden combination, to be sure!
But enough said about the self-aggrandizing peddler of products. I wouldn’t have said anything further, but I don’t appreciate someone trying to self-promote and make a profit by spewing lies at my expense.
I will now say no more on this matter, since I don’t have time to keep responding to her, as she seems to put out an unhinged social media video as frequently as most people brush their teeth.
Unlike the apparent motives of the person mentioned above, I am not running for this office to gain Fortune and Fame. I understand the job pays something, but as of this writing I don’t even know what that amount is and have never inquired. I can guarantee you right now, however, that if I get on the Board, and if a pay raise for the Board is suggested, I will be voting NO. I would even be willing to vote for a pay cut, but I suppose I should do more due diligence before making a guarantee on that.
So much for Fortune. As for Fame, I have mentioned elsewhere that I was solicited to run for the Board, and was talked into it over a considerable length of time, and finally agreed to pursue this entirely out of sense of civic duty.
The choice in this election is really quite simple.
My opponent is the incumbent who has held this office for two terms. If you think the District is doing great, and all the decisions the Board makes are wonderful, and you don’t mind our students’ gradual slide below sub-mediocrity, you should go ahead and vote for my opponent. If he wins, I’m sure you will get more of the same, or perhaps even double down on the same.
If you would rather have someone who will serve as more of a watchdog looking out for the interests of parents and students, then you should vote for me.
I know that I am the underdog in this race, going against an entrenched incumbent.
I hope you will vote for me, but even if I lose this race I will suffer no loss. After all, unlike the majority of students in the district, I already know how to read at grade level.
